Danny John-Jules speaks out about Strictly Come Dancing ‘bullying’ claims

Danny John-Jules has discussed the ‘bullying’ accusations he faced on Strictly Come Dancing last year.

Danny appeared on Strictly in 2018, partnered with pro dancer Amy Dowden.

During his time on the show, Danny faced allegations of rows with Amy which he has always denied.

Reflecting on his time on Strictly in a new interview with the Metro this week, Danny branded the claims “rubbish” and declared “my conscience is clean”.

He told the newspaper of the tabloid reports: “There were two scenarios; either someone was backstage selling stories or it was manipulated by the press themselves.

“Now if the BBC heard something that wasn’t true why didn’t they say, “That’s not true?” If it’s not true, say it’s not true. If you don’t defend me, that’s your business. If you do defend me that’s your business.”

He added: “The BBC never said it wasn’t true… they created the stories.”

Danny went on to suggest that the “bad stories” were used to get him out of the competition.

A spokesperson for the BBC responded to Danny’s claims in the article: “This claim is categorically untrue.’

Danny’s comments come ahead of the launch of Strictly’s new season.
