Dancing On Ice’s Torvill and Dean reveal BIG plans for the final

Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill have announced a big plan for the Dancing On Ice 2018 final.

The Olympic skaters will be returning to the ice for a very special performance.

They’ve been given the clearance to skate, after insurers previously ruled them out going on the ice.

The news was announced ahead of Sunday’s final live show, although the pair won’t be performing their famous Bolero routine.

“We couldn’t stay behind the desk much longer,” the now Dancing On Ice judges said.

Speaking to OK! Magazine more about the plans this week, Jayne revealed: “I’m excited because it’s nice to be on the ice again. I don’t live an ice rink, so I don’t get to skate very often.

“It’s been four years sine we performed together on the ice. We did rollerblading for panto for two years – that was challenging.”

On skating again at the age of 60, Jayne continued: “It makes me feel empowered, but also makes me slightly crazy. There are more aches and pains now, but it still feels good. I can’t imagine not skating while we still can. It’s great we’re lucky enough to be able to do it.”

Meanwhile, Jayne said she didn’t know if she and Chris would return as judges in 2019.

She said: “Who knows? No one has even said ‘Would you like to come back next year?’ to us yet!”

Earlier this year, Chris has revealed he and Jayne hadn’t originally been allowed to go onto the ice.

“They haven’t insured us to go on the ice so they wouldn’t let us go on,” Chris said. “I think it’s just a standard contract. I don’t get it.”

But it seems the paperwork has gone through and we can expect to see the duo skating again next month.

Dancing On Ice returned to TV last month for its first series since 2014.

Chris said ahead of the launch: “We are really excited. It’s nearly four years since we left and we were ready for a break when it finished – that’s for sure. But after a couple of years, our feet started to get itchy and when there was some suggestion of it coming back, we got really excited.

“When ITV asked if we would be part of it, of course we said we would!”

Legendary skating duo Jayne and Christopher are reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show that sees celebrity skaters take to the ice in a bid to dance and dazzle their way to glory.

Torvill and Dean will both sit on a revamped ice panel alongside the formidable Jason Gardiner and choreographer extraordinare Ashley Banjo.

Having originally run on ITV between 2006 and 2014, the series pairs famous faces alongside professional skaters, who each week perform in a bid to impress both the panel and the viewers at home.

Dancing On Ice 2018 continues Sunday nights on ITV.
