Dancing On Ice’s Jason Gardiner ‘unhappy with Torvill & Dean’s head judge status’

Jason Gardiner is reportedly unhappy with Torvill & Dean’s head judge status on Dancing On Ice.

Last Sunday saw the eleven remaining couples skate live for a second time, before another went home.

At the end of each routine the judges – Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason and Ashley Banjo – gave their comments and marks out of 10 before viewers could vote for their favourite.

The judges scores were then combined with the viewer’s votes before the bottom two couples were revealed as Stephanie Waring and Lemar.

The judging panel chose who to save and who to send home, and it was Stephanie who left Dancing On Ice this week. Both Ashley and Jason saved Stephanie, but Chris and head judge Jayne saved Lemar and so he stayed.

For the new series, Jayne and Chris are alternating in the role as head judge. This gives them the casting vote in the skate-offs.

But Jason reportedly thinks that all four of the judges should share the power.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Jason was disappointed with the decision and that was down to Torvill and Dean, and Jayne having the casting vote.

“The week before, Chris made the final decision and Jason doesn’t always agree with them, so naturally he is annoyed.

“With his experience as a judge on the show he feels he is more than worth his place and his comments are often the most memorable.”

Speaking at the National Television Awards this week, Ashley Banjo said: “If someone said as a panel, ‘There’s four of you, a split vote is inevitable. Who should be head judge?’ I know Jason disagrees with me but I would say Jayne or Chris.

“They come as a partnership. Jason thinks it should be split between us all.”

Dancing On Ice 2018 will continue this Sunday night on ITV
