Dancing On Ice 2018 backstage gossip from the first live show revealed

Dancing On Ice 2018 returned to screens at the weekend and here’s the latest gossip from backstage.

Legendary skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show that sees celebrity skaters take to the ice in a bid to dance and dazzle their way to glory.

Holly’s “nippy” secret

Following the opening episode, it’s been revealed how Holly has been using hand warmers to stop herself getting “nippy” during the live shows.

“It can get pretty nippy at the ice rink, so Holly found a cheeky way of keeping herself warm,” an insider told The Sun newspaper.

They explained: “There’s loads of the gel handwarmers floating about so she quickly slipped a couple down her front so she didn’t get cold. It worked a treat.”

Holly wasn’t alone in putting the hand warmers to good use.

Her co-host Phillip said: “The studio has been freezing. I even put handwarmers down my boxers.”

A crush between contestants

Meanwhile, it’s been reported that one contestant has a secret crush on another.

According to The Sun, Jake Quickenden has been enjoying time with Brooke Vincent – despite being engaged.

“He’s had a crush on Brooke for a long time but it’s nothing more than that,” insisted a source. “His feelings towards her have only ever been physical and he’s now just enjoying her company as friends.

“Jake is in a happy relationship with [fiancée] Danielle and wouldn’t let anything upset that.”

Judges accused of undermarking

It was Candice Brown and Matt Evers who were ranked bottom of the scoreboard on Sunday and are in the first skate off next weekend. They’ll face the celebrity skater who ranks bottom of the celebs still to perform, and one will be eliminated.

But Matt reckons the scores Candice received from the judges weren’t fair.

He said: “Personally for me we were a .5 undermarked across the board. The audience went ‘oh my God no’ – if I was judging the performance we were a .5 undermarked.”

The fall viewers didn’t see

In a clip on ITV’s This Morning, Dancing On Ice hosts Holly and Phillip shared an out-take from the first live show.

In scenes that weren’t broadcast, following the group performance, Max Evans toppled over on the ice.

Phillip said: “There was a long carpet on the ice for Holly and I to walk down on, and we told all the skaters to watch out for it.

“But did everyone listen?”

Dancing On Ice 2018 continues Sunday nights on ITV.
