Coronation Street’s Eva Price won’t be killed off when she leaves the soap this year.
Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, announced last December that she was leaving the ITV soap.
However it’s been reported that Eva will not be killed off in the hope that she’ll one day return.
Eva will be seen relocating to America, following dramatic scenes when she gives birth in a bathroom. She’ll then hand over her newborn to Toyah Battersby, who registers the baby in her own name.
“Producers wanted to give Catherine the option to return in future once she’s had the chance to pursue other acting jobs,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “She was keen to do some serious dramas but working for the soap has always been a dream job for her.
“The decision to leave wasn’t easy so knowing Eva might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again definitely suits Catherine.”
They added: “Bosses are sure that she will be back one day when her son is slightly older and she’s taken the opportunity to work elsewhere.”
Speaking last year about her upcoming exit, Catherine said: “Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years and who knows one day she might be back in Weatherfield again.
“In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects and spending more time with my family.”
Leaving alongside Catherine will be Shayne Ward in another shocking exit.
A source teased: “Nobody will see this coming. Viewers are going to be absolutely stunned.
“It’s going to be a blow for the fans but also a massive TV moment.”
Corrie airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
