Comic wins over Britain’s Got Talent judges with these jokes

A comic won over the Britain’s Got Talent 2019 judges with his ‘silly’ jokes at the weekend.

Jason Mannion went before the judges on More Talent on ITV2.

He performed his comedy act for Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell, as Ant and Dec watched on from the sidelines.

As always, acts needed three or more yeses to get through to the next round, and potentially make the live shows.

Jason’s audition saw him hit the audience and judges with non-stop quips although some of his gags got bigger laughs than others.

After the performance, David said: “I like silly humour. I think if you’re going to win this show you’ve got to attack it a bit faster.”

Alesha added: “I liked it, it was just very silly. Well done.”

Amanda agreed: “I loved it. It’s very traditional, just a bit of daft really.”

Simon then commented: “I like silly humour… but I’m not sure you’re going to win the show.”

Despite his reservations, Simon joined the other judges in giving Jason a yes through to the next round.

Following the airing of his audition, Jason spilled all on the show in an interview with the Warrington Guardian.

“Performing on Britain’s Got Talent is a pretty surreal experience, especially knowing I’m now through to the selection stage and only one step away from the live semi-finals,” he said.

Ahead of finding out if he’ll make the live shows, Jason said: “The next round will be held in two weeks’ time and selected bits will be broadcast on the show, so hopefully they’ll show me again.

“I’m absolutely over the moon and just appearing on TV and getting through to the next round will boost my profile.”

Other acts who appeared on the show this weekend ranged from 88-year-old singer Colin Thackery to mysterious magicians Brotherhood who shocked with a sword stunt.

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 is back this Saturday night on ITV with the latest round auditions.

As always, straight after you can tune in to ITV2 for Britain’s Got More Talent hosted by Stephen Mulhern.

The Britain’s Got Talent live semi-finals start later on this month.
