Caroline Flack ‘will be back to present winter edition of Love Island’

Star reportedly signs up for new series airing in January 2020

Caroline Flack has signed up to present ITV2’s upcoming winter edition of Love Island, a report suggests.

Recently it was revealed that the broadcaster is planning to air another series of the smash hit dating contest in early 2020.

It will feature the same format as the summer edition – and now it’s also set to feature the same frontwoman.

The Sun claims that Caroline has agreed to return as host for the bonus run, airing in January and February.

While it’s no surprise that she’s staying in the role, her involvement signals that winter Love Island is another step closer to happening.

“Caroline is now synonymous with the show,” an insider commented. “It wouldn’t seem right to have anyone else hosting it.

“They’ll use the same production crew too so it should all run like clock work.”

It is currently unclear whether her cheeky Scottish narrator Iain Stirling will also be back.

According to the newspaper, bosses have invited the comedian to take part, although he’s yet to seal the deal.

Barring a surprise change in voiceover, the only major difference to winter Love Island will be the filming location.

It will be based in a glamorous pad in South Africa, rather than the usual sunny villa in Spain.

ITV chiefs were initially reluctant to expand the Love Island brand, claiming they were “treading carefully” to avoid damaging it.

Their minds changed after the latest series again set ratings records, hitting a new high of 6million viewers.

They also want to take advantage of the gap left by Celebrity Big Brother, which typically aired every January before it was axed by Channel 5 last year.

“ITV bosses have been thrilled with the popularity of the show this year,” the insider added.

“It seemed like a no brainer to fill the January reality TV slot left by Celebrity Big Brother.”

Winter Love Island is likely to be officially announced imminently as the current summer run comes to an end.

The show continues every night at 9.00pm on ITV2 until the grand final on Monday (29th July).
