Britain’s Got Talent’s Marc Spelmann reveals wife has been given all clear from cancer

Britain’s Got Talent 2018 contestant Marc Spelmann has shared the emotional story of his wife’s cancer battle.

Marc stunned the BGT judges with a mind reading trick in Saturday’s episode.

The 46-year-old magician from London wowed in tonight’s opening episode with a mind reading routine involving the panel – and his daughter Isabella.

Marc’s trick involved each of the judges randomly selecting something. David Walliams had to pick a random coloured crayon, Alesha Dixon a random card, Simon Cowell a random word and Amanda Holden had to randomly mess up a Rubik’s cube.

“It’s not real magic, for me real magic changed two years ago, this to me is real magic,” said Marc, explaining to the judges how he and his wife had struggled to conceive, before his partner was then diagnosed with cancer whilst pregnant.

But sharing a happy ending, Marc then revealed pre-recorded clips of his young daughter correctly predicting the outcome of the judges’ random choices.

The performance got all four judges, along with the crowd on their feet – while Ant and Dec hit their golden buzzer.

Now in a new interview, Marc has revealed the touching story of his wife’s battle with cancer after the couple had struggled for 10 years to conceive.

Their celebrations after finally falling pregnant were short lived when Marc’s partner Tessa was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“The only words that came out of her mouth were ‘what about my baby?’, which says everything about Tessa,” Marc told the Daily Mirror newspaper. “We had days of pure hell – is Tessa going to make it, is the baby going to make it?”

He revealed: “Tessa had a reduced form of chemotherapy so Isabella was safe inside but Tessa lost her hair and had to have a mastectomy… Isabella was two months premature but had to come out by C-section so then Tessa could be whisked away for radiotherapy and a harsher form of chemotherapy.”

Marc added: “It was a rollercoaster ride, with highs and dark lows, even after Isabella’s birth.”

Fortunately, Tessa has now been given the all clear.

She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “It is amazing to see Isabella today – she’s magic. She’s our world. We are going to enjoy the BGT journey and I am so proud of Marc, but Isabella is real magic. We are so happy.”

Other acts in this the first episode of Britain’s Got Talent included 10-year-old singer Calum Courtney and The B-Positive Choir, the official choir of the NHS Blood and Transplant.

Plus, there was Matt Johnson, who performed an escapology trick, whilst locked and chained inside a tank filled with water.
