Britain’s Got Talent’s Kojo Anim reconnects with estranged father after audition airs

Britain’s Got Talent’s Kojo Anim has revealed he’s reunited with his dad after his audition aired on TV.

Stand up comedian Kojo auditioned for BGT earlier this year.

He grabbed the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell, sending him straight through to the live shows.

And following the episode airing, Kojo has told how he’s back in touch with his estranged father.

Kojo grew up in foster care and hadn’t spoken to his dad in nine years.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Just got off the phone with my dad who I have not spoken to in nine years and all it took was for him to call and say he is proud of me and our relationship is now back on track.

“This is all bigger than comedy… it’s about peace of mind, happiness, love and family.”

Kojo also paid tribute to his foster mum, who he calls Aunt Sandra.

“My hero would be my aunt after taking me in at five years old,” the comedian said. “I don’t think I will meet someone that has the same impact. It’s second to none.”

In his audition episode earlier this year, after performing a stand up comedy set.

David Walliams praised: “You’re brilliantly likeable, I think you did yourself really proud today.”

Simon then said: “I don’t really like comedians on this show… but I loved you!” before hitting the golden buzzer.

Kojo was floored – quite literally – by the buzzer as he lay on stage while golden confetti rained down.

Simon added: “You have the most amazing energy, this is the break you’ve been waiting for. Enjoy this!”

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 continues Saturday nights on ITV.

With the golden buzzer, Kojo is already through to the live shows which will air later this year.

Up for grabs for the BGT winner is a £250,000 cash prize and spot on the Royal Variety Performance.
