Britain’s Got Talent’s Jack Goodacre spills on his time on The Voice Kids

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Jack Goodacre has spoken out about his time on The Voice Kids last year.

This year’s auditions saw 12-year-old Jack take part in Britain’s Got Talent with 43-year-old Dad, Tim.

On the show, Tim said: “I’ve always wanted to be a dad from an early age… I’ve always sang, my dad was a singer, Jack’s always been around it.”

Jack said: “I’ve performed on stage before, it was an awesome experience. I’ve always wanted to do something with my dad like this. We thought Britain’s Got Talent would be the thing.”

“I’m a little bit scared of Simon Cowell, but at least he has children now so he might feel a bit of sympathy for me.”

In their audition, the father and son sang an original song ‘The Lucky One’s together, which got Simon Cowell hitting the gold buzzer for them.

But it wasn’t Jack’s first time on TV.

Last year he was seen on The Voice Kids rocking out with Danny Jones.

Jack performed Free falling by John Mayer and had all three coaches on the show turning for his performance. He and Danny then performed Sweet Child Of Mind together with The Voice Kids’ band.

Jack made it as far as the semi-final on the show last summer before he was eliminated.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, Jack was quizzed on his time on the rival reality show.

He insisted that BGT would be a “greater experience” as he could sing with his dad.

“I just thought it would be an even greater experience if I could do it with my dad,” Jack said. “It wouldn’t be the same, it really wouldn’t, if I didn’t do it with him.”

The pair went on to say they had no plans to sing covers and wanted to perform more original songs instead.

“It’s too much. You can’t put it into words. It eclipses everything – singing with my son,” Tim told the programme. “The support from the public has just been phenomenal. We can’t walk six steps outside without people stopping us. It’s been unreal.”

And reacting to getting the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell, Jack said: “It was just incredible.

“As soon as he pressed it, it was all a blur. I can’t remember anything he [Simon] said.”

Britain’s Got Talent 2018’s live final airs tonight at 7:30PM on ITV.
