Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Simon Cowell WALKS OFF as Disney duo Katherine and Joe return

Married couple back for second shot as Elsa and Sven from Frozen

Disney duo Katherine and Joe O’Malley got a yes when they returned for a second shot on Britain’s Got Talent 2019 – but only after Simon Cowell WALKED OUT in disbelief.

Katherine and Joe first auditioned for the ITV talent contest last year, when their fairytale romance inspired them to become a Disney tribute act.

Appearing as Beauty and the Beast – with Joe’s face concealed by a mask – the married couple sang ‘Something There’ from the classic animation.

Katherine’s voice impressed the judges enough that Alesha Dixon asked whether she’d considered going solo.

However, her partnership with Joe divided the panel and they were sent home with two nos.

Undeterred, the pair returned to BGT on tonight’s episode, believing they knew what the problem had been.

“Where do you think we went wrong last year to get two buzzers?” wondered Katherine.

‘Well, the mask, really,” claimed Joe.

Accordingly, they came up with a new twist. “We’re bringing something a bit different,” explained Katherine.

“People say, ‘we wanna see the man behind the mask’, so now we’re revealing the man behind the mask!”

This year, they dressed up as Queen Elsa and Sven the Reindeer from Frozen.

“When people come back a second time, it’s better normally, so good luck,” said BGT boss Simon.

Katherine promptly began singing the hit film’s signature song ‘Let It Go’ – but it was only seconds before Simon lost interest and slammed his buzzer.

Meanwhile, presenter Ant McPartlin picked up on something unusual, saying: “I’ve just noticed the reindeer is wearing tap shoes.”

Indeed, and perhaps wisely, Joe opted not to take the mic, instead tap dancing around his wife.

The audience got up and joined in, leaving a miserable Simon shaking his head.

Just as the performance was ending, Alesha also hit her buzzer.

“The only reason I didn’t buzz you earlier is because of Sven’s dancing, it was amazing!” she laughed.

“But you’ve got to believe the animal is real,” insisted Simon. “What the bloody hell was that?”

Crowd members began chanting in support of Katherine and Joe, energising Disney superfan Amanda Holden, who branded the try-out her “favourite of the whole day”.

“You know, Simon has been saying, the most important thing about Britain’s Got Talent is listening to our audience,” she said.

That remark resulted in even louder cheers, and an irritated Simon decided he’d had enough.

“You know what, I’m gonna leave it up to you,” he sighed – before walking off stage and out of the theatre.

That left the other three judges to make a decision, with Alesha sticking by her no vote.

However, Amanda and David Walliams both said yes – and as Simon had abstained, that was enough to put Katherine and Joe on the live show shortlist.

“The public have voted you in, and the public are never wrong!” exclaimed Amanda.

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
