Britain’s Got Talent 2019 judges thrilled live shows are back at the Hammersmith Apollo

Britain’s Got Talent is returning to the Hammersmith Apollo for its live shows – and the judges and acts couldn’t be more excited.

Last year, the ITV talent contest ditched traditional TV studios in favour of holding its finals at the London theatre.

Viewers praised the change, so it’s no surprise that BGT is heading back for series thirteen.

Long-term judge Amanda Holden can’t wait to get started. “It’s brilliant we’re back at the Hammersmith Apollo, I think it feels more magical,” she said.

Alesha Dixon also complimented BGT boss Simon Cowell on the move – even though it meant less space behind-the-scenes.

“Everyone was complaining last year because we couldn’t all fit backstage,” she revealed.

“But do you know what? It was worth it because the atmosphere in the theatre compared to a studio is next level.

“It took it up a notch, Simon made the right call on that. Sometimes he’s right, which is annoying!”

The Mis-Teeq star reckons fans are in for a treat thanks to this year’s line-up of semi-finalists.

“It feels like we’re spoilt this year, we’re in for the best show,” she predicted.

Meanwhile, the contestants themselves are ecstatic about performing at one of the UK’s most iconic entertainment venues.

Comedy singer Siobhan Phillips said: “The atmosphere will be electric in the Apollo.

“The thought of walking out to all those people is both exciting and terrifying in equal measure!”

Magician John Archer added: “The London Palladium was a big tick off the bucket list, but performing live at The Apollo just makes it even more unbelievable!”

While it’s BGT’s second run of theatre live shows, it will be the first for presenter Ant McPartlin.

Ant sat out of last year’s round as he took his extended break from television amid personal controversy.

The first semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent 2019 airs tomorrow night at 9.00pm on ITV.

Names on the bill include impressionist Tony Rudd, singer Brian Gilligan and two Golden Buzzer acts – Akshat Singh and Flakefleet Primary.
