Britain’s Got Talent 2018 crew member makes epic blunder during live semi-final

Staffer clearly embarrassed as he was exposed on TV during Acrocadabra performance

A Britain’s Got Talent 2018 staffer unwittingly became the star of the show when he made an embarrassing on-air mishap during Acrocadabra’s live semi-final performance.

The ITV talent contest’s week of live shows may be well underway – but so far they haven’t been going smoothly.

Monday’s episode suffered a ten-minute blackout after stormy weather outside the Hammersmith Apollo caused major technical issues.

Tuesday’s instalment then saw a stage invader run up to the judges’ desk and hit three of the red buzzers.

Bosses no doubt hoped the drama would end there, but another epic slip-up occurred during the third semi-final tonight.

Britain's Got Talent 2018 - Acrocadabra semi-final performance

Dance magic group Acrocadabra opened the show with a trick involving one of their members disappearing from a see-through box.

When the shroud was removed from the box, said member had indeed vanished.

What no-one expected to see was one of Britain’s Got Talent’s crew members crouching behind it.

The staffer was clearly embarrassed as he realised he’d been caught on camera, and ducked behind the nearest person to avoid further exposure.

Viewers took to social media to poke fun at the hilarious incident and speculate about what happened.

Presenter Stephen Mulhern eventually provided an explanation later on ITV2 spin-off show Britain’s Got More Talent.

‘This was my highlight of the night,” he said. “One of our crew, all he had to do was push on the illusion at the end, with the perspex box.

“When they pulled off the cloth, he had to get off the stage to the right behind the dancers. For some reason, I think he forgot!”

The judges, who were seemingly oblivious when the blunder occurred, cracked up laughing when shown the footage.

“That wasn’t a dress rehearsal?!” asked Alesha Dixon.

Britain's Got Talent 2018 - Simon Cowell shocked by crew member's on-air blunder

“No, that happened tonight – and let me tell you, it’s been tweeted worldwide!” replied Stephen.

A stunned Simon Cowell suggested the staffer may be why Acrocadabra were eliminated during the results show.

“You know what he’s done, he’s literally lost them a place in the final,” he joked.

Britain’s Got Talent continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm and 9.30pm
