Another X Factor star is being lined up for Strictly Come Dancing

Another X Factor finalist is set to join the Strictly Come Dancing line up.

Last year saw JLS’ Aston Merrygold and Alexandra Burke, who both appeared on The X Factor in 2008, take part in the BBC One series.

Now Union J singer Josh Cuthbert could follow in their footsteps.

Union J took part on The X Factor in 2012, where they made the semi-final. Originally the group was a trio made up of Josh, JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley. On the show, George Shelley joined the group to form a new four piece, before he left in 2016.

The group released two albums in 2013 and 2014 respectively and have had a total of four top 10 singles to date.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Josh has caught the eyes of producers and they’re seeing if he could take part. He could easily be a fan favourite.

“He’s young, in good shape and can dance. He’d be a strong signing.”

As it happens, Josh could well end up being reunited for his former fellow X Factor finalist Rylan Clark-Neal on the show.

Strictly chiefs are also said to want Rylan on the dancefloor this year, amid rumours Big Brother could be coming to an end.

Rylan currently hosts the spin-off to the Channel 5 show and said he’d take part in Strictly if BB ever finished.

According to The Sun, Strictly bosses are “prepared to pull out all the stops” to get Rylan in the ballroom.

“Rylan is charismatic and popular, and the bosses are sure he would be a huge hit on the show,” a source said. “He is definitely one of their targets for 2018.”

Strictly Come Dancing will air on BBC One in the autumn.
