Amanda Abbington has quit Strictly Come Dancing after missing Saturday’s live show.

Actress Amanda Abbington withdrew from this weekend’s live show on medical grounds.

It’s now been confirmed she has permanently withdrawn from the competition.

In a statement, the BBC said: “Amanda Abington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.

“The show wishes her all the best for the future.”

On Friday night during spin-off show It Takes Two, host Janette Manrara said: “We have some breaking news; unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend… Amanda, we hope you get well soon, my love, sending you all the best wishes.”

Janette said at the time it was hoped Amanda and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice would make a return to the dancefloor this weekend.

With Amanda now out and following Sunday’s fourth elimination, ten stars now remain on the Strictly Come Dancing line up.

They include tennis star Annabel Croft, radio presenter Eddie Kadi, Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach, TV presenter Angela Scanlon and radio host. soap star Adam Thomas and newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

Joining them are actor Bobby Brazier, theatre star Nigel Harman, actor Layton Williams, reality star turned presenter Zara McDermott and journalist Angela Rippon.

This weekend will be the traditionally Strictly Come Dancing Halloween Special! Brace yourselves as the remaining couples conjure up a bewitching blend of tricks and treats to mesmerize the judges and earn your votes from the comfort of your homes.

As we hurtle toward the midpoint of this exhilarating competition, the stakes have never been higher, and no one is eager to bid farewell. Who will rise to the top of the Halloween leaderboard?

Despite Amanda’s exit, another celebrity is expected to be heading home in Sunday night’s results show, which will feature a music performance from Rick Astley.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday and Sunday evenings on BBC One.
