Alan Carr ‘to host reboot of Play Your Cards Right for ITV’
Another of Sir Bruce Forsyth’s classic TV shows is set for a comeback.
Hot on the heels of The Generation Game on BBC One and The Price Is Right on Channel 4, ITV are set to reboot Play Your Cards Right.
A pilot episode will reportedly be filmed with Alan Carr as host, who also fronted The Price Is Right earlier this year.
Play Your Cards Right was originally hosted by the late Sir Brucie in the 1980s. The show returned for revivals in 90s and 00s before the final episode aired in June 2003.
“It’s very early days but they have begun work on what the comeback would look like and everyone is excited,” a source shared to The Sun newspaper. “They’re treading very carefully as they know it’s an iconic format, and was fronted by a legend.
“But Alan is a great fit and is one of the very few current stars with the personality and skills to hold a show like this.”
The news follows reports that the BBC are set to give The Generation Game another go.
Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins fronted two specials earlier this year which were met with mixed reviews.
The Sun says that changes will be made to try and improve things for the second attempt.
“The BBC have booked a new filming slot for Mel and Sue to have another go at the Generation Game” a source told the tabloid. “They are going to mix things up a bit while staying true to the format. They don’t want to be remembered as the hosts of a flop, so said they were at least take part in another episode to sort out the problems.”
They added: “It’s thought the show will have a new producer, and they’ll look at nixing the celebrity panel which didn’t really work.”
