The X Factor ‘tried to poach Jennifer Hudson from The Voice UK’

Dreamgirls star turned down chance to switch shows

The X Factor bosses allegedly tried to steal Jennifer Hudson from The Voice UK, according to a report.

Hudson became a coach on The Voice UK when it moved to ITV last year, and has proven a hit with viewers.

Indeed, it seems she’s so popular that she’s been targeted by Simon Cowell’s rival music contest.

The Daily Star claims that Hudson turned down a ‘big money’ offer from X Factor chiefs to switch shows.

The Dreamgirls star confirmed that she was approached by “another show”, which she didn’t explicitly name.

“I have been asked to do another show, but I didn’t go for it,” she said. “The Voice is more of a fit for me. I love the positivity in it.

“I like that we have coaches, not judges like they do on X Factor – it means we have had similar experiences to the contestants.

“We have had a career and therefore we can direct them to where they want to go. I don’t think other shows can offer the same thing.”

Cowell has a history of poaching judges from enemy talent shows.

In 2012, he persuaded Alesha Dixon to jump ship from Strictly Come Dancing to Britain’s Got Talent.

The move was successful for Dixon, who has remained on the BGT panel ever since.

Three years later, Rita Ora transferred from The Voice UK, then a BBC programme, to The X Factor.

Last year, it was rumoured that Cowell had banned X Factor contestants from performing Hudson’s music due to her involvement in The Voice.

Hudson won The Voice UK last year with her act Mo Jamil, and is also a coach on the American version of the show.
