X Factor spoilers: Nicole Scherzinger ‘left in tears’ after brutal six chair challenge

X Factor 2017 judge Nicole Scherzinger was reportedly left upset after her six chair challenge.

The brutal stage of the competition is once again back this year and proving as controversial as ever.

In the Six Chair Challenge, the remaining acts in each category will perform one by one in front of the judges and a live audience at Wembley Arena.

But in a new twist for this year, the category’s mentor will sit separately from the other judges.

The remaining three judges will sit together and offer up their comments and critiques of the performance, before passing over to the category’s mentor to pick who goes through.

Sharon Osbourne was first to try out the new set up with her category, joking as she took up her single seat away from her fellow judges: “I feel like I’ve done something wrong. Do I smell or something?”

When it came to Nicole’s turn in the hot seat, things got rather tense, The Sun reports.

“Nicole left the set upset as the situation was so intense and it all got too much for her,” a source claimed. “It was a long and stressful day and it wasn’t helped by the fact the crowd were not on Nicole’s side for some of her choices.”

The insider explained: “Before filming had commenced, the audience were encouraged by the show’s production staff to be vocal about what they thought of her choices.

“They took this on board and were very loud, but unfortunately for Nicole at times it did mean a deafening shower of boos and jeers.”

From there, each judge will select three acts (at least based on past years) to take through to the live shows which are expected to begin in October time.

The X Factor 2017 continues Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.

Bootcamp concludes on Saturday before Six Chair Challenge starts on Sunday.
