X Factor results: Shan Ako speaks out after her shock exit

Shan Ako has spoken out after her shock exit from The X Factor 2018.

Two acts were eliminated in the X Factor 2018 results at the weekend as both Shan and Bella Penfold got the boot.

Bella was automatically sent home after polling the least public votes while Shan faced Acacia & Aaliyah in the sing-off.

Although it was Acacia & Aaliyah’s third time in the sing-off, the judges’ sent the decision to deadlock and it was Shan who made a surprise exit.

Having been the favourite to win at one point, Shan’s departure caused anger with viewers but she’s looking on the bright side.

Taking to Twitter after the weekend’s results, Shan said today: “Still deeping it… let’s be honest… But we had a Good run guys & as they say, don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened!

“And imma do just that!! ? Thank you for being so supportive!! Love you guys!! ❤️”

She also thanked those who voted for her over the competition, gushing: “THANK YOU so so much to ALL who have Supported, @SimonCowell & All at @TheXFactor !!!!!

“What an experience of a lifetime!!!! Love you all!! Hope you all continue this journey with me ❤️? What’s meant to be will be!”

Meanwhile, Bella has said that mentor Simon Cowell was left “fuming” by the exit of both her and Shan.

“Simon was fuming. He was more gutted than me,” she told The Sun newspaper. “I started the show with 1,000 followers now I’ve 80,000 people who want to hear my music so now I’m feeling on top of the world.”

Alongside Acacia & Aaliyah, those left in the competition are Anthony Russell, Danny Tetley and Scarlett Lee.

Rounding off the current crop of contestants are Brendan Murray and Dalton Andre Harris.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that the final eight acts – those remaining plus Bella and Shan – will make up the line up for the X Factor’s live tour in 2019.

The X Factor returns next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with Mamma Mia week for the semi-final. The final airs December 1 and 2 on ITV.
