X Factor results: Misunderstood speak out after their exit while Robbie Williams was away

Misunderstood say they’re gutted to be out of The X Factor 2018 following a shock exit.

Two acts were eliminated in the X Factor 2018 results at the weekend as both Giovanni Spano and Misunderstood got the boot.

Misunderstood were automatically sent home after polling the least public votes.

The duo – made up of Stefan, 25 and Jeff, 27 both from London – were originally one of the favourites to win series.

Their cover of Maniac from Flashdance saw them bow out after four weeks in the competition in the Movie themed week. Mentor Robbie Williams wasn’t at the show, having had to skip the results episode due to touring commitments.

Now Misunderstood say that Robbie’s absence did make a “difference”.

“It was a difference. Robbie Williams in itself as an entity, he is such a big character,” they told The Sun newspaper. “So of course if you go somewhere and that person is not there anymore the energy is going to be different.”

However they praised guest judge Nile, describing him as a “pleasure to work with.”

“Obviously we were bummed out about it because were working so hard and the fans were incredible,” they continued, “But it teaches you never to be complacent. Robbie was really shocked. Robbie was the best mentor, as well as Nile Rodgers.”

They added: “He was the best mentor we could have asked for. We spoke to him on Skype last night and he was shocked.”

After Misunderstood’s elimination, Giovanni faced Acacia & Aaliyah in the sing-off after receiving the next fewest votes from viewers.

Following the performances the judges decided who to save. Louis Tomlinson, Simon Cowell and guest judge Nile Rodgers – standing in for Robbie – voted to keep Acacia & Aaliyah.

The X Factor is back Saturday and Sunday with a Big Band themed week.
