The X Factor 2018 judges have been revealed, and fans are mightily confused.
Robbie Williams, Ayda Field and Louis Tomlinson will be joining Simon Cowell on the panel, it’s been officially announced today.
They appeared together for the first time this evening at a press conference in London.
Arena auditions will begin filming in Wembley later in the week.
While the appointment of Robbie was praised, his wife Ayda’s appearance on the line up has gone down… less well.
Ayda has appeared in TV shows including American soap Days Of Our Lives but is perhaps best known in the UK as a Loose Women panellist.
Appearing at the press conference, Robbie said Ayda would represent ‘the public’.
And that public had a LOT to say about her joining the show.
“Imagine walking out to meet your #XFactor mentor for it to be Ayda Field… Bloody Sinitta would’ve been a better choice. Truly tragic and embarrassing,” tweeted @floyurr.
Added @SuperTV247: Imagine you were a decent singer, went on #XFactor and get through to the six chair challenge only to walk out and see Ayda Field waiting as your mentor? ffs where’s Sinitta ?”
“What was Simon thinking with Ayda Williams… Who is she? Anyone? #XFactor” asked @__AlexN_.
@elliot_gonzalez remarked: “So they replaced Nicole Scherzinger with Ayda Field?! Good luck on those duets in the final… #XFactor ”
And @HausofDylan95 commented: “Heck even Katie Price would be a more suited judging choice than Ayda…. #XFactor”
Of course we’ve not yet actually seen Ayda or any of the new panellists in action.
Indeed, filming of the new series doesn’t even begin until later this month.
Maybe the new look line up will surprise us when the show actually starts on TV…
The X Factor airs on ITV in the autumn.
