X Factor 2018 spoiler: New twist added to the Six Chair Challenge

The X Factor 2018 will see a slight new twist to this year’s six chair challenge.

Once again this year’s show will see the contestants face the ‘brutal’ Six Chair Challenge as they compete for a spot in judges’ houses.

They’ll be singing for judges Ayda Williams, Robbie Williams, Simon Cowell and Louis Tomlinson plus a huge live crowd at London’s Wembley Arena.

In the Six Chair Challenge, the remaining acts in each category will perform one by one.

But for this year, there will be a new Britain’s Got Talent golden-buzzer style twist.

As always, the mentor of each category will have all the power to decide who gets a ‘seat’ at judges’ houses.

Once all six seats are full, the mentor in charge must then decide who to swap and replace in the seats if they want to take any further acts through.

Only those who are left sitting at the end will make it through to judges’ houses.

However, this year for the Six Chair Challenge each of the judges has one Guaranteed Safe Seat to give away.

If the judge likes an act enough, and they definitely want to see them at judges houses they’ll press a golden X and give that act a Safe Seat. The judge can only press this for an act in their own category.

This means the act cannot be swapped out of their chair and they’ll go straight through to judge’s houses.

From there, each judge will select three acts (at least based on past years) to take through to the live shows which are expected to begin at the end of October.

The X Factor 2018’s six chair challenge begins next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
