This evening was the third X Factor results show of the series and things weren’t straight forward.

Saturday’s episode saw audio issues that ended up with ITV postponing the public vote.

Tonight’s show opened up with a repeat of all of the performances before a quick flash vote took place to determine the results.

And it was United Vibe and Molly Scott who left The X Factor in tonight’s show.

This evening’s episode began with an apology from Dermot O’Leary for Saturday’s technical glitch. He explained: “To be fair to all the contestants, we’re going to air all of the performances in full before voting opens. It comes down to tonight’s show.”

After the performances and public vote, Dermot revealed the three acts with the fewest votes as Molly Scott, United Vibe and duo Acacia & Aaliyah.

With the least votes in the public poll, boy band United Vibe were instantly eliminated.

Molly and Acacia & Aaliyah then went head to head in the sing off. Acacia & Aaliyah performed Stormzy’s Big for Your Boots while Molly sang Christina Perri’s Human.

The judges then had to decide who to send home, with guest judge Nile Rodgers sitting in for an absent Robbie Williams. Nile and Simon both stuck by their acts, sending home Molly and Acacia & Aaliyah respectively.

Ayda Williams and Louis Tomlinson both sent Molly home, leaving Acacia & Aaliyah to stay in the competition.

Now just ten acts remain in the contest.

Alongside Acacia & Aaliyah, they are Anthony Russell, Danny Tetley, Misunderstood, Bella Penfold, Scarlett Lee, and Shan Ako.

Rounding off the current crop of contestants are Brendan Murray, Dalton Andre Harris and Giovanni Spano.

The X Factor returns next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with Movie week, featuring Olly Murs and Michael Buble.
