X Factor’s Robbie Williams has confessed he was shocked by this week’s results.
The X Factor went live for the first time this year at the weakened with a ‘Guilty Pleasures’ theme.
Two acts were eliminated in the X Factor 2018 results with LMA Choir leaving alongside Janice Robinson.
Janice was automatically sent home after she polled the fewest votes from viewers. LMA Choir had faced Brendan Murray in the bottom two sing-off. After LMA Choir and Brendan sang again, the judges decided who to save with Louis Tomlinson & Ayda Williams sending LMA Choir home and Simon Cowell & Robbie Williams sending Brendan home.
With the result at deadlock, viewer votes saw LMA Choir eliminated.
The outcome left Robbie stunned, admitting this week: “I found it a shock. I really, really found it a shock.
“I erroneously thought we had 50 per cent of the vote but apparently we don’t. It was an unspoken thing.”
But speaking to The Sun newspaper at the Pride Of Britain Awards, Robbie said he felt Brendan “deserved” his place.
“Brendan rocked his performance and he had to go through,” Robbie said. “I do miss the choir terribly and them going home lessens the entertainment factor of the show for me and the beating heart of the house.”
Meanwhile, Robbie confessed things were getting competitive between himself and wife Ayda Williams behind the scenes.
“We’re very competitive. We were going through song choices yesterday and she pulls the female card. Just no, you can’t,” he said.
The X Factor 2018 is back this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
The next theme is Halloween and there will be performances from guest stars, One Direction star Liam Payne and 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur.
