X Factor 2018 contestant returns in drag for a second audition

X Factor 2018 contestant Thomas Pound gave two very different auditions tonight.

This evening saw the final round of auditions of this year’s series with judges Simon Cowell, Ayda Williams, Robbie Williams and Louis Tomlinson.

One of the acts we met was 20 year old cleaner Thomas Pound from South Wales.

He said: “I absolutely love my job. It’s so much energy, it’s like one of my hobbies. But I don’t want to be a cleaner for the rest of my life. I want to be entertainer. I want to be a performer. I want to be out there.”

On stage, Thomas told the judges: “I was a drag queen called Lady Frieda. I did it for about three or four yeses in pubs and clubs back home.

“This is the pinnacle, I want to bring something new to the competition and I can promise you that. Wembley’s not going to know what’s hit it, let me tell you.”

He then sang Tina Turner’s Simply the Best before Simon suggested: “You’re good, I like you. But this is what I feel, I think you should come back as her. I think it’d make more of an impact.”

Thomas Pound, then returned in drag as Lady Frieda Wilde.

Singing another Tina Turner hit – Proud Mary – Thomas ended with four yeses.

“I really, really loved it,” declared Robbie.

Simon joked: “You’ve got balls. People loved it. Whether your Lady Frieda or Thomas Pound, I don’t care because both of you have got a yes.”

Other acts going before the panel this evening included Chloe Jane McAllister, a 18 year old from Northern Ireland, who split the judges with her cover of Jessie Ware’s Say You Love Me before Blaise Duncan, a 16 year old student from Derby, sang Enrique Iglesias’ Baliando.

Following the last of the auditions, the successful acts will face the new judges’ deliberation where they’ll discover if they’ve made the cut to the Six Chair Challenge.

And after that, the judges and contestants will find who is mentoring which category this year.

The X Factor 2018 airs Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
