The winner of The Voice UK 2018 has been crowned in tonight’s final results.
It was the live final of The Voice UK this weekend as four contestants competed for victory.
And just moments ago the final result was announced as Ruti Olajugbagbe was named The Voice UK winner of 2018.
The Voice UK’s live final weekend kicked off earlier as the remaining members of Team JHud, Team Will, Team Olly and Team Tom again performed to stay in the competition and be one step closer to winning a recording contract with Polydor Records.
In The Voice UK final for Team Tom was 18-year-old student Ruti Olajugbagbe from Essex while on Team Jennifer was Belle Voci, a duo made up of friends 26-year-old Sophie from Norwich and 25-year-old Emily from Mayfair.
Team Will’s finalist was 16-year-old student Donel Mangena from Southampton and on Team Olly was 27-year-old student Lauren Bannon from Weymouth.
All four performed twice in the first half of the show, performing both a duet with their mentor and a new solo song.
After the performances, lines briefly opened via phone and the app for viewers to support their favourite.
Host Emma Willis announced the top two finalists in no particular order as Donel and Ruti.
Therefore Team Olly’s Lauren and Team Jennifer’s Belle Voci bowed out of the competition in fourth and third places.
Ruti and Donel then returned to the stage to perform live once again.
The pair reprised their potential winner’s single – their favourite song of the series.
Lines then closed for good before Emma returned with the final result.
And with the most votes, host Emma announced Ruti Olajugbagbe as The Voice UK champion 2018. She’ll release her winner’s single ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries following the show.
