Will Britain’s Got Talent’s golden buzzer ‘curse’ be broken this year?

This year’s Britain’s Got Talent golden buzzers have been confirmed – but can any of them win?

There are once again a total of five golden buzzer acts on BGT 2019 with the contestants going straight through to the live shows.

In the auditions, David Walliams, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell and Ant and Dec each picked an act for the semi-finals.

However to date not a single golden buzzer act has won the show.

The folks over at OddsMonkey analysed the stats from the last five years which show that a third don’t even make the final.

The best result any golden buzzer act has achieved is third place, last accomplished by comedian Daliso Chaponda in 2017.

Could any of 2019’s lucky five break the curse?

This year David Walliams was first to hit his golden buzzer, giving it to Flakefleet Primary School. Teacher Dave took to the stage with the 4 to 11-year-old choir from his school “Some are amazing singers, some are just enthusiastic,” he joked.

Simon Cowell gave his golden buzzer to comedian Kojo Anim who impressed with his stand up comedy while Ant and Dec’s golden buzzer is 13-year-old dancer, Akshat who rocked out on stage to Nicki Minaj’s Starships.

Alesha Dixon’s golden buzzer act is 10-year-old singer Giorgia Borg who wowed with her own original song ’10’ and Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer contestant for 2019 are boy band Chapter 13. They are made up of 14-year-old Jacob, 15-year-old Noah, 15-year-old Tom and 15-year-old Jake.

In the semi-finals three were eliminated but two – Flakefleet Primary School and Kojo – made it into tonight’s final.

Could either be the first golden buzzer act to win?

According to the latest odds, probably not.

OddsMonkey report that Chelsea pensioner Thackery is currently odds-on to take the victory at 8/11, way ahead of joint second favourites X – the psychic magician – and Dave & Finn, the former police dog and his partner.

The Britain’s Got Talent 2019 final airs live tonight on ITV from 7:30PM.

The results will air in the same show, which will also feature performances from Susan Boyle and Diversity.
