Wayne Ellington was the stand out on The Voice UK 2018 this weekend, closing the latest round of blind auditions.
Another selection of singing hopefuls performed on The Voice UK stage this Saturday night.
46-year-old Choir Master Wayne Ellington from Manchester was one of those hoping for a spin.
He performed JP Cooper’s We Were Raised Under Grey Skies to get two coaches turning.
Both Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones hit their buzzers for Wayne, who chose to join Sir Tom’s team.
It was week 5 of the singing contest this weekend, as the four coaches continued to build up their teams.
Newbie Olly Murs joins Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson on this year’s panel, who are on a quest to uncover the best vocal talent that Britain has to offer.
Once again, this year’s winner will scoop a life changing record contract with Polydor Records.
As always, the first stage is the blind auditions where the contestants must hold their nerve as they sing to the backs of the coaches.
If any of them like what they hear, they hit their buzzer to spin around and select that artist for their teams of ten.
After the first four weeks, Olly currently led the way with seven of his ten acts chosen. Both Will and Sir Tom had six while Jennifer had only half her spaces filled as things stood.
Other acts performing this weekend included 16-year-old student Saskia Eng from Edinburgh who sang London Grammar’s Strong.
We also met 41-year-old Wendi Harriot, a London Backing Singer who previously performed with The Voice UK’s own Jennifer Hudson. Wendi sang Rolling Stones (Aretha Franklin Version)’s Satisfaction but didn’t get any coaches to turn.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old Paige Young from Essex impressed Will.i.am to join his team after joining Camila Cabello’s Crying In The Club.
And this weekend, it wasn’t just the contestants who performed.
Will.i.am was seen rapping his classic hit Where Is The Love on The Voice UK. The Black Eyed Peas star performed the song to the audience during a break in filming.
Will got the crowd on their feet with his performance, as Olly joined in.
The Voice UK 2018 airs Saturday nights on ITV.
