The Voice UK: Will-i-am has some new tactics for his seventh series

Will.i.am has revealed he’ll be bringing some brand new tactics to The Voice UK in 2018.

The Black Eyed Peas star has been on the show for six years now and next year will be his seventh series in the spinning red chairs.

However as yet The Voice hasn’t managed to launch a star – something Will is determined to finally change.

Speaking at blind auditions for the upcoming series, Will said the talent was “great” and he had already seen some “awesome singers”.

Chatting to DigitalSpy, Will explained he had some new tactics lined up.

“We have to be alert and more strategic on who we put through to the final. We have to ignore who the audience are going to vote for,” he told the website. “So a lot of us play this game with the audience…

“You have to break those rules – are you are you trying to please TV? Or are you trying to make a star? Sometimes you have to ignore all of that stuff.”

Will continued: “With the Black Eyed Peas – we were against the norm. Our manager wasn’t looking at stats or ratings.

“That’s what I’m going to do this year. I’m going to ignore that I’m on television and I’m going to go for what is great on radio and streaming.”

Will will be joined by Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones and new judge Olly Murs on The Voice UK in 2018.

The new series is expected to be back on TV in January on ITV.
