Ruti Olajugbagbe has made The Voice UK 2018 live shows after an amazing knockout performance.

Last Saturday saw the start of the knockout rounds and they conclude this weekend.

At the beginning of the knockouts, six acts remained in each of the four teams, led by mentors Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs and Sir Tom Jones.

In the knock outs each act had just one song to prove they should be in the live shows.

All the coaches offered comment but only the contestants’ their mentor decided who went through.

This weekend saw Team Tom’s Ruti Olajugbagbe singing for the final spot in the live shows.

The 18-year-old student / carer from Essex performed Dreams by Cranberries.

And the touching rendition got Ruti through to the live semi-final next week.

Alongside Ruti on Team Tom is 20-year-old Lucy Milburn from Sheffield, who belted out Amber Riley’s Colorblind at her blind audition.

On Team Jennifer in the live shows are 16-year-old music student Gayatri Nair from Peckham, London. Joining Gayatri are Belle Voci, a duo made up of friends 26-year-old Sophie from Norwich and 25-year-old Emily from Mayfair.

Team Will’s first finalist is 18-year-old Tai, a Music Student from Stevenage. Tai is joined by 16-year-old student Donel Mangena from Southampton.

Lastly, on Team Olly are 27-year-old student Lauren Bannon from Weymouth and 29-year-old musician Jamie Grey from Redcar. He returned to The Voice UK this year after getting no turns last year.

Those who have made it through are now one step closer to the chance of winning a recording contract with Polydor Records.

They’ll first perform live in the semi-final on Saturday March 31.

The Voice UK 2018 then concludes with the final on April 7
