Vinnie Jones regrets wanting to leave Celebrity X Factor

Vinnie Jones has admitted he shouldn’t have tried to leave Celebrity X Factor last weekend.

Footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones is one of six contestants left on this year’s competition.

Last weekend saw him in the bottom two sing-off alongside Glee actor Kevin McHale.

After the pair performed again for the judges, Vinnie told the panel he intended to step down from the contest and invited the judges to send him home.

However Simon Cowell refused, encouraging Vinnie to stay and instead sending home Kevin.

Speaking this week, Vinnie said he had “lost the plot a little” in last Saturday’s live show.

He told The Sun newspaper he was now keen to continue in support of his late wife Tanya.

“Vin to win!” Vinnie joked with the tabloid in a new interview. “I lost the plot a little bit last week and I forgot the charities I’m doing this for — Tanya’s two charities.

“In hindsight I shouldn’t have done it and I thank Simon for keeping me in.”

Asked if Tanya would’ve thought he could make it to the semi-final, Vinnie replied: “Whatever I do, she’ll think I can win it.

“But I need to win this for the charities. That would be the icing on the cake.”

This weekend sees the remaining six celebrity contestants performing live for a fifth time for a place in the grand final.

Joining Vinnie are reality TV personality Megan McKenna, The Chase’s Jenny Ryan, rugby trio Try Star, social media influencers V5 and duo Max & Harvey.

Saturday night will also see a special guest act as former X Factor judge Louis Tomlinson takes to the stage.

The X Factor: Celebrity airs this evening, Saturday November 23, from 7:40PM on ITV.

You can watch the show online as episodes air or catch up later via the ITV Hub.
