Vinnie Jones donating Celebrity X Factor proceeds to hospitals that treated late wife

Vinnie Jones has revealed he plans to donate any Celebrity X Factor proceeds to the hospitals that cared for his late wife.

Footballer turned Hollywood actor Vinnie had been due to audition for this year’s X Factor Celebrity series earlier in the summer.

He originally stepped down from the show for personal reasons following the tragic passing of his wife Tanya after a long illness.

However last weekend it was announced that Vinnie would return to the series for the live shows from this Saturday night.

And ahead of his first performance, Vinnie has announced he will donate any proceeds from the show to the hospitals that treated his partner.

Taking to Twitter, Vinnie said: “I’ve decided any proceeds of a record contract from X-factor will go to Harefield hospital and Cedars Sinai.

“NOW im ready to Rock n Roll ?? @TheXFactor #CelebrityXFactor”

On last Saturday’s episode, Simon Cowell phoned Vinnie to invite him to sing in the live shows.

Simon said: “We’d love you to be on the live shows this year, we’d welcome you and give you all the help you need.”

Vinnie told Simon he would “be honoured” to take part in memory of his late wife.

Vinnie continued: “My daughter is fantastic, she’s been strong, it’s really brought us closer together.

“We are just getting through it, you just learn to carry the grief really Simon.

“Well Tan’s pushed me really Simon, we knew it was all going on, and I put it to the family and Tan was very excited about it.”

Vinnie joins Nicole Scherzinger’s Overs team with her category also including The Chase’s Jenny Ryan, Coronation Street actress Victoria Ekanoye, American actress and chat show host Ricki Lake and TV newsreader and journalist Martin Bashir.

Meanwhile, Simon is mentoring the groups made up of rugby trio Try Star, Love Island supergroup The Islanders, social media influencers V5 and duo Max & Harvey.

Finally, Louis Walsh has the Unders made up of EastEnders actor Jonny Labey, Glee star Kevin McHale, American actress Olivia Olson and reality TV personality Megan McKenna.

The X Factor: Celebrity live shows begin this Saturday night at 8:20PM on ITV.

The celebrities will sing live for both the judges and viewer votes with the winner getting a record deal.
