Victoria Ekanoye reveals X Factor: Celebrity regret after early elimination

Victoria Ekanoye has spoken out after her exit from The X Factor: Celebrity.

Last Saturday evening (November 2) saw the second live episode of the new series.

11 acts performed live before two were eliminated in the latest Celebrity X Factor results.

It was soap stars Victoria and Jonny Labey who left The Celebrity X Factor in a double elimination.

Speaking following her departure, Victoria has admitted she regrets not singing an original song on the show.

She told the Metro newspaper: “I’ve been writing music for a while now and if I’d had a crystal ball and known I was going to leave so soon, I think I would have taken a chance on doing something original.

“It was important to me to not get into the habit of doing a ballad every week, so I’m happy that I sang a fun, uptempo song and got to dance a little, but I would have loved to showcase my own artistry and creative ideas.”

Victoria went on to say that she was looking at the “silver lining” of the situation, revealing that there had “already been some amazing opportunities presented” to her.

The actress continued: “OOne thing that I am truly grateful for throughout my whole X Factor journey is that I rekindled my love affair with songwriting.

“Working with the epic music team and singing on that stage has started a little fire in my tummy and there was a time when I didn’t think my voice would ever amount to anything real.

“Simon [Cowell] said he felt they only scratched the surface of what I’m capable of, so I guess it’s time to see if he’s right.”

Currently nine acts remain on The X Factor: Celebrity.

Those left in the competition are Love Island supergroup No Love Lost, Glee actor Kevin McHale, rugby trio Try Star, broadcast journalist, Martin Bashir, reality TV personality Megan McKenna, footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones, The Chase’s Jenny Ryan, social media influencers V5 and duo Max & Harvey.

The X Factor: Celebrity series continues Saturday nights on ITV.

The third round of live performances airs tonight on November 9 from 8:10PM.
