When is Vera back on TV? New episodes release date confirmed
Here’s all you need to know about the new episodes of Vera as the show returns to TV in the UK.
Brenda Blethyn will reprise her title role in brand new feature length episodes of award-winning drama Vera on ITV in 2023 and 2024.
When is Vera’s new series on TV?
Vera returns in 2023 with Christmas special episode The Rising Tide on ITV1 and ITVX on Tuesday, 26 December at 8PM.
Series 13 will then start in 2024 on Sunday, 7 January 8PM.
The new series has three, feature-length episodes.
Who’s on the cast?
Featuring the globally renowned and celebrated Brenda Blethyn in the role of DCI Vera Stanhope, the latest series welcomes back David Leon in his role as Joe Ashworth.
Alongside Brenda and David, the cast for the three new episodes includes Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones as DC Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela Impey playing pathologist Dr Paula Bennett, and Rhiannon Clements appearing as the eager and new DC Steph Duncan, who joins Vera’s investigative team.

In the series’ first episode, DCI Vera Stanhope probes the mysterious death of a market trader, uncovering a tangled web of deception, secrets, and treachery, while a shadowy figure from her own history resurfaces.
The second episode finds Vera investigating the discovery of a frail young girl at a secluded railway siding, revealing complex family relations and prompting questions about trust and exploitation.
The series finale sees Vera exploring the murder of a fish and chip shop part-owner, leading to the revelation of undisclosed debts, shattered promises, and familial discord, alongside the unmasking of hidden truths and perpetrators.
Each of these three standalone crime stories in the new series is inspired by the popular novels and characters crafted by renowned crime author Ann Cleeves.
