Plebs Series 5 first look as Amanda Holden joins cast

Here’s a very first look at Series 5 of Plebs ahead of its return to ITV2.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has joined the cast of the award-winning comedy series, which will air on ITV2 in the autumn.

First airing in 2013, Plebs follows the young residents of ancient Rome and has proved a huge hit with viewers.

This first picture from Series 5 sees Amanda with the rest of the cast as filming for the new season commenced in Bulgaria this week.

Amanda will play Rufina, a lusty aristocrat at a banquet, who sets her sights on Jason, the gate-crashing pleb (played by the returning Jonathan Pointing), making him her plaything for the evening.

Also confirmed to join as series 5 guest cast are Emilia Fox (playing a detective), Tony Robinson (playing an archaeologist), John Thomson, Tracy Ann Oberman, Kevin Bishop, Leo Gregory (playing a chariot hooligan), Nigel Lindsay and Phil Davis.

Series 5 also sees the return of cast including Tom Rosenthal (Marcus), Ryan Sampson (Grumio), Tom Basden (writer, Aurelius), Ellie Taylor (Gloria), Maureen Lipman (Landlady), Karl Theobald (Landlord), Samantha Spiro (Sylvia) and Danny Webb (Lepidus).

Series 5 of Plebs will air on ITV2 in the autumn of 2019.
