The Greatest Dancer: Oti Mabuse and Cheryl dance with same sex couple Santra & Piia

A same sex couple wowed the judges on The Greatest Dancer this week – and got Oti Mabuse and Cheryl on stage with them.

In tonight’s auditions we met Santra & Piia from Finland.

The pair are not just dance partners but have been together as a couple for 13 years, marrying a year ago after gay marriage was legalised in Finland.

They performed a Latin American routine to Reet Petite, getting a spot at callbacks after 75% of the audience voted them through.

As well as winning over the crowd, they also won over the judges.

Oti exclaimed after the performance: “That was amazing!”

“I want to do the jive with Oti…” Cheryl then began before Oti declared: “Let’s do it now.”

Cheryl and Oti then got on stage with Santra & Piia as the pairs danced together.

Oti then declared: “I’ve been waiting for a same sex couple to come out there and do a good job.”

Cheryl added: “You dance like you dance and that’s a fact. The rest of it shouldn’t matter.”

The Greatest Dancer continues Saturday nights on BBC One. In the new series, contestants audition in front of a two-way mirror that the audience can see through.

They will vote to open the mirror, if 75 percent of the audience vote YES, the mirror will open and the dancer will make it through to the next stage of the competition, the callbacks.

Other acts to make it through this weekend included best friends Harry & Eleiyah, trio Villains Crew, freestyle dancer Wei Yao and the Dane Bates Collective, an all girl group of contemporary dancers aged 12 to 19.

Joining them in the callbacks are 7-year-old Modern Jazz dancer Shyla, 80-year-old ballet performer Barbra Peters and Unity UK, a group of 12 street dancers aged from 14 to 25.

The Greatest Dancer continues next weekend on BBC One with more auditions.
