Survival of the Fittest viewers don’t get the point of the show

How Survival of the Fittest works

Survival of the Fittest is proving a bit confusing for viewers.

The new reality series started on Sunday as 12 strong and sexy singles entered The Lodge for the ultimate battle of the sexes.

Set in South Africa, the competition sees £40,000 up for grabs.

The show, from the makers of Love Island, scored big ratings for ITV2 when it launched with over 600,000 tuning in to the digital channel.

But two episodes in, many aren’t quite sure how it all works.

“I honestly don’t understand the point in this programme are they gonna couple up? Or is it a game show, so confused #survivalofthefittest” one viewer tweeted.

Another posted: “I STILL don’t get #SurvivalOfTheFittest WHAT are they all doing there?! It’s like 5 shows in one?!?”

And a third added: “I’m still slightly confused on the whole concept of this show. Competing? Do they win as a team? Is it a dating show? ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️ #SurvivalOfTheFittest”

Well here’s what host Laura Whitmore had to say about the format in the first episode: “For the next three weeks, you guys will be living in this luxury lodge with these beautiful surroundings but I’m afraid some of you won’t be here for long.”

Laura explained how Survival of the Fittest works: “Only the team members living in the lodge in three weeks’ time will be in with a chance of winning a share of £40,000 in cash.

“To help decide who stays and who goes, you are going to be going head-to-head in a series of team challenges that will test you both physically and mentally.

“It is very important to win because if your team loses you will be vulnerable and there is a risk that you will be replaced by a new arrival.

“Ultimately who stays and who goes home is decided not just by the public, but also by the opposition, so keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”

Survival Of The Fittest continues nightly on ITV2 at 9PM.
