Strictly’s Karen Clifton has spoken out about rumours of marriage troubles with Kevin Clifton.
The two Strictly Come Dancing pro dancers married in 2015, but there were rumours recently the were ‘barely talking’.
“Kevin has spoken to some of those close to him and admitted things aren’t going well between them at the minute,” a source told The Sun.
Kevin was quoted as saying by the publication: “Strictly’s a hard few weeks for everyone and Karen and I have found this year’s particularly hard as we have been in different places since the start — with her in Manchester and now London and me in Glasgow.
“I’d love to get as far as possible with Susan [Calman, Kevin’s celebrity partner] who’s been amazing, but I’m looking forward to getting home.”
At the weekend, Kevin seemed to make a public apology to Karen as he said on the show: “When Strictly is on I’m not the easiest person to live with. I go a bit mad so I’d like to say first of all thanks to my wife for putting up with me.”
Now speaking to The Sun newspaper, Karen opened up: “We’re just a regular couple, we’ve been together for seven years and like any other relationship you have your ups and downs and nothing is ever perfect so you make it work.”
She told the tabloid: “Everything is fine. It adds a little bit of spark to the relationship and it just means that we care about each other…
“We just need to keep pushing and relationships take work, it’s not as easy as you think, especially being in a job like Strictly.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One.
