Strictly’s Janette Manrara brands Brendan Cole’s exit “horrible”

Strictly Come Dancing pro Janette Manrara has said Brendan Cole’s exit was “horrible”.

Brendan had been a pro dancer on Strictly Come Dancing the past 14 years but announced his exit earlier this year.

Fellow dancer Janette this week confessed saying goodbye to Brendan was “horrible”.

Praising the performer, Janette told OK! Magazine: “Brendan has always been lovely to Aljaž [Skorjanec] and myself.

“Strictly is such a big programme. We didn’t know how anything worked. Brendan was there to offer advice. He ended up becoming a great friend.”

She added: “He is such a Strictly legend who was there from the first series. It’s sad to say goodbye but we will still be friends, and I’m sure he’ll be amazing at whatever he chooses to do next.”

Brendan revealed he wouldn’t be returning to Strictly back in January.

“They’ve made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show,” he told ITV’s Lorraine. “I’m in shock. I got a phone call. I’ve had 15 incredible series.”

Brendan admitted: “I’m disappointed. I’ve always known this day would come. I’m a very strong character, some don’t like that.

“I’ve never been contracted for more than one year. I still wanted to be part of it. My passion is still very much there.”

The BBC said in a statement: “We’d like to thank Brendan Cole for being part of the show since the beginning – winner of the first series – and for the contribution he has made to its success.

“We wish him all the very best for the future.”

Strictly returns to BBC One in the autumn.
