Strictly’s Alexandra Burke gets support from an old X Factor pal

An old X Factor friend of Alexandra Burke’s has leapt to her defence on Strictly Come Dancing.

Singer Eoghan Quigg finished third on The X Factor in 2008, behind Alexandra who won the series.

And in a week in which Alexandra has hit out at “fake stories” about her time on Strictly, Eoghan has shown his support.

He said of the ‘hate’ aimed towards Alexandra: “I honestly don’t know what the craic is. Alex is a really thoughtful person.

“We always really got on. She was always on the ball. She gave 110 percent. Of course, she’s going to be nervous. She’s on prime-time TV!”

Speaking to heat magazine, Eoghan tipped Alexandra to win the series.

“If it’s down to raw natural talent, then she wins hands down for me. What you see is what you get with Alex,” he praised. “I hope people realise that she’s a really nice, down to earth girl.”

Joining Alex on this year’s series of Strictly was JLS’ Aston Merrygold, who finished as runners up ahead of Eoghan and behind Alex on The X Factor.

Eoghan joked: “I saw the two of them from my year on The X Factor and thought, ‘Where’s my bloody phone call?!'”

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday and Sunday night on BBC One.

Alexandra is one of five celebs remaining in the competition ahead of the final next weekend.
