Joe McFadden says he’s now ‘single and unemployed’ after winning Strictly Come Dancing 2017.
Saturday’s Strictly final saw the four remaining couples performing live for the last time with three routines each: Their personal favourite, a choice by the judges and the show dance.
As always judges Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood marked all of the performances out of 40 but their marks did NOT count: Only public votes decided the winner.
And it was Joe who won Strictly Come Dancing 2017 in the results show, where viewers had all the power.
Reacting to the news, he said: “It feels completely surreal and I’m so in awe of everyone who started all those weeks ago. We’ve all become such a tight unit and I love them all to bits.”
Speaking about his pro partner Katya Jones, Joe added: “This woman is the most amazing woman. Thank you so much for sticking with me and persevering, and being the most amazing artist and dancer and counsellor and slave driver! She’s amazing.”
Looking to the future, former Holby City actor Joe admitted he was now unemployed but hope to bag himself a job in the West End.
“I’m very optimistic about the future, things are looking up,” he said. “I’m feeling really good, looking forward to having a really good rest over Christmas.”
Meanwhile, speaking to The Sun newspaper, Joe said he was single and ready to mingle after his Strictly success.
Asked about attracting any admirers on the series, Joe added: “I have no idea, I haven’t been out in the world. Hopefully we’ll find out.”
It was Katya’s first time in the Strictly final and she was in tears after the news was made.
Meanwhile, it was not announced who finished in second, third and fourth place in the Strictly results.
Unlike ITV shows, the BBC does not release the Strictly Come Dancing voting figures.
Elsewhere, the Strictly final saw a guest musical performance from Ed Sheeran and a big group performance from all the pros and celebrity dancers.
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in the new year.
