Strictly Come Dancing’s ‘old and new pros at war behind the scenes’

Strictly Come Dancing’s old and new pros are said to be ‘at war’ behind the scenes.

There’s supposedly been a growing split between the show’s old timers and the new faces.

An insider claimed to the Daily Star newspaper: “They might be all smiles for the cameras but it’s bitchly come dancing behind the scenes.”

“The age gap is widening between Strictly’s old guard and the young dancers,” a source added. “There is no question they are not fit but anyone that age would have to work very hard to keep up.”

Anton Du Beke, who has been on the show since the first series, told the tabloid that the new pros were “trying to make their mark”.

He explained: “The routines are getting bigger and there is lots of stuff going on.

“The pro numbers are getting greater as well and you have new little pros coming on the show trying to make their mark.

Meanwhile, Anton’s fellow original Strictly star Brendan Cole is rumoured to be considering quitting the series.

Brendan and Anton are the last remaining pro dancers on Strictly from the first ever series.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “He loves being a part of the show, but his lack of promotion and clashes with judges this year have led top bosses to wonder how long he’ll stick around for.

“They don’t want him to leave. Deep down, Brendan doesn’t want to either – but options are being weighed up.”

Elsewhere, it’s been reported that Karen Clifton and Nadiya Bychkova clashed off camera during rehearsals for a pro group dance.

“It’s reached the stage where they barely speak,” a source told The Sun newspaper of the girls’ supposed feud.

For now, Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday and Sunday night on BBC One.
