Strictly Come Dancing’s Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke laugh off ‘feud’

Debbie McGee and Alexandra Burke have laughed off a supposed ‘feud’ between them on Strictly Come Dancing.

The two stars were said to be “barely talking” as the BBC One series headed to Blackpool for its annual special last month.

There were claims of a growing feud between the leading ladies who have both topped the scoreboard this series.

But hitting back at the reports, Debbie shared a selfie on Twitter of herself with Alex.

“What a load of cods wallop the papers write @alexandramusic and I have been.mates since day 1. Feel the love ❤,” Debbie tweeted alongside the snap.

And now writing in The Telegraph, Debbie said the reports were “all fiction”.

She said: “There have been stories about Alexandra and I feuding, and you do find it hard to deal with because it really is all fiction. There’s nothing that I’ve read that’s been true.

“At first we laughed about them, but as it goes on, I’ve stopped reading things. When you’re going through grief [as Alex is], you don’t feel as strong as you once were. Some things have affected me more since Paul died. We’re now in week 12, so I can relate to Alex’s comments about things taking their toll.”

A Strictly source had told The Sun newspaper: “There is real drama between Alexandra and Debbie. Obviously they’re both very strong dancers and everyone expects them to reach the final.

“But with every week that passes things become even more strained between them.”

Ahead of Blackpool’s live show, the insider added: “The hardest part of it all is that their dance partners, Giovanni and Gorka, are the best of mates.

“But they’re both fearless and determined to win. There are going to be fireworks at the top of the tower at this rate.”

The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor this Saturday when Strictly Come Dancing returns with the semi-final.

One more celeb will get the boot in the results show on Sunday night.
