Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole is sure he’s in the right after rowing with judge Shirley Ballas.
Saturday evening saw Brendan and celeb partner Charlotte Hawkins dancing the Tango to Danger Zone from Top Gun, before a clash between Brendan and head judge Shirley.
In the comments, Shirley complained about the rise and fall in the routine but Brendan claimed she was “wrong”.
Bruno Tonioli also got involved, telling Brendan: “I think Shirley is right and I feel you should be more respectful.”
But Brendan stood firm on his view and vowed to watch the performance back to check.
Having now done just that, Brendan has repeated his assertion that Shirley wasn’t right in her feedback
“I’ve seen the tape. I’ve watched the dance back. There is no rise and fall in it!” he insisted. “You could argue that Aston [Merrygold] didn’t do a proper Cha Cha if you’re going to be like that, but he did an amazing Cha Cha.”
Speaking on Good Morning Britain in the week, Brendan added: “What Charlotte did was phenomenal compared to the week before, especially given the fact she’s not one of these people from X Factor. There was a massive improvement and I loved what she did.”
Reflecting on his on-air clash with Shirley, Brendan continued: “It felt so good dancing and then to get comments like that.. I think the judges were a bit upset with me because I had been mouthy the week before.
“But I want to take a bit of a step back now. This is about Charlotte, and I want to make it all about Charlotte.”
Charlotte herself added: “It is disappointing when you come back fighting and you’ve tried really, really hard. For the judges not to recognise that is hard.”
When it came to the scores on Saturday Craig Revel Horwood gave a 4, Darcey Busell a 5, Shirley a 4 and Bruno a 4 for a total of 17.
It was a low score but up 5 marks on the previous weekend’s ‘dance disaster’ and the pair once again avoided the bottom two dance off thanks to viewer votes.
Strictly Come Dancing 2017 is back tonight live on BBC One from 6:45PM.
