Strictly Come Dancing final hit by online voting problems

Tonight’s final episode of Strictly Come Dancing has been hit by online voting problems.

The BBC One series welcomes viewers to vote for their favourites both via phone lines and for free via the BBC website.

But after tonight’s performances (December 14) many found themselves unable to cast their votes online.

“Website is saying I have reached my maximum votes! I haven’t voted yet,” one wrote on Twitter.

A second complained: “Online voting not working again – saying I’ve reached my maximum votes when I haven’t even voted once. Seriously, sort it out @BBCOne ?””

And another of those reporting problems added: “Can’t vote it’s saying I have reached my maximum but haven’t voted at all!!!”

In response to the complaints, the BBC’s official Strictly account tweeted: “We are receiving a high volume of votes. If you are experiencing difficulties please try again later. #StrictlyFinal”

This evening’s final live show sees the three remaining couples performing live one last time before the winner is crowned.

Those left on the Strictly 2019 line up this year are Actress Emma Barton, CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and actor Kelvin Fletcher.

Judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood will mark all of the performances out of 40 however it’ll be viewers’ votes alone that determine the winner.

Each of the three finalists performed a trio of routines – one chosen by the judges, one showdance and one previous favourite from the series.

Voting lines opened up after the first round of dances.

The results will be announced live later tonight.

Elsewhere in tonight’s final, the Strictly professional dancers opened the show with an explosive group number featuring the finalists. Plus, the whole class of 2019 return to perform one final group dance.

Also performing tonight is global music phenomenon Taylor Swift, performing a song from her critically adored album, Lover.
