Strictly Come Dancing’s Debbie McGee has spoken out about her relationship with Giovanni Pernice.
Debbie lifted the lid on rumours of an unlikely romance between the pair.
And she’s made clear that the rumours are just that, no matter how close they may have got on the show.
Debbie insisted: “People want me to be in a relationship with him and I’m really sorry to disappoint them.”
Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women this week, the Strictly runner up explained: “We really do have a very special chemistry, he’s really special to me and I’m sure I am to him.
“We love each other to bits but there was nothing more than a friendship and this amazing working partnership.
“We loved dancing together and I think that’s why people thought there was a romance because when you dance, it’s very physical.”
Debbie went on to confess: “One of those lifts, he had to put his hand between my legs and that’s as close as you can get to a man.
“I can’t explain why but we were just really comfortable in each other’s company so I never felt anything that felt wrong so we just had a lovely time.”
Speaking earlier in the series about a supposed romantic connection between herself and Giovanni, Debbie told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “For a woman of my age it’s very flattering that people think there might be a romance. I do have a little chuckle to myself. We have the greatest working partnership and do have chemistry.
“We are great mates and I think that’s probably more special than if there was anything else going on.”
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Giovanni said of their relationship: “I’ve got the winning partner, not just in this competition, but for the rest of my life.”
He added: “Debbie has to be the best person I’ve met in this country so far. She is just amazing.”
Strictly Come Dancing will be back next year on BBC One.
