Stephen Mulhern returned to work on Britain’s Got Talent 2018 today after missing half of the auditions tour due to illness – and he’s teased a surprise for the judges.
Stephen has fronted the talent contest’s ITV2 spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent since it first began, way back in 2007.
However, the presenter recently revealed that he’d taken sick leave for the first time ever after falling ill with laryngitis.
“I am on doctor’s strict orders to rest my voice, after suffering a nasty bout of Laryngitis,” he said. “First day off from the show in 11 years. Unbelievable!”
Stephen has missed four days of filming for the upcoming twelfth series, including two at Blackpool’s Opera House – but it seems he has now recovered.
The Catchphrase star took to Twitter to reveal he’s back on the job today, as the auditions tour reaches its halfway stage at the London Palladium.
“Over the moon to say I will be back @BGT tomorrow to make BGMT as ‘Unbelievable’ as it always is!” he wrote last night.
“Get ready, Mullers is back big time!”
The judges may not be too happy to see Stephen, as he suggests he has a rather ominous-sounding surprise.
Judge Alesha Dixon responded to his tweet, saying: “Thank goodness @StephenMulhern, we miss you!!!”
“Well you might not have missed me too much when I ask you the first thing we want you to do for BGMT,” he teased back. “What a treat! See you in a mo.”
It is currently unclear how Stephen’s absence has affected More Talent.
One try-out reportedly caused mayhem at the weekend after the judges, Ant and Dec got involved in a plate-smashing act.
Britain’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got More Talent are due to return to ITV in the Spring.
