S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole was rejected from I’m A Celebrity for not being famous enough.
The singer has been in the headlines this week after putting one of his BRIT Awards up for sale on eBay.
The listing finished with a bid of £66,100 which Paul says will go on paying bills.
Explaining why he sold the award, Paul revealed this week: “Someone said to me, ‘Why don’t you just not sell the awards and just go into the jungle (on I’m A Celebrity…)?’
“I have asked them many times if they will let me in and they won’t have me. I’m not famous enough, apparently.
“But when you look at some of the people they put in, it really is extended friends of famous people. Cousins of friends.”
He added: “I’ve been told this by many of these reality TV shows – they just don’t want me. They could easily have put me in the jungle. Or the dancing one. Or the ice one.”
Speaking to NME, Paul admitted that he found it difficult to get work over the past 12 months after an injury while touring with The Rocky Horror Show.
He said: “There an un-choreographed bit of dancing (that went wrong) and someone fell on me. I was out of the show for about two months.
“My back has gone – it hasn’t been right since.”
While Paul was turned down by the jungle, the jungle has been turned down by other celebs.
Piers Morgan recently revealed he turned down ‘a lot of money’ to appear on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
The former newspaper editor turned Good Morning Britain presenter suggested no amount would get him on the show.
“I’ve been offered lots of money for these things, to go and eat bugs,” he said on the ITV show. “They say ‘hey, do you want to go to a jungle in Australia and eat kangaroo testicles as Ant and Dec mock you?’ – no thanks.
“Why would I do that?”
I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV in the autumn.
