Rylan Clark-Neal has revealed hopes that Big Brother could return in 2020 to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
And he thinks a streaming service like Netflix would be the best place for it.
2019 is set to be the first year since 2000 that Big Brother has not been on British TV.
The series recently marked 19 years since its first premiere airing its opening episode of the first series on July 18, 2000.
It immediately proved a hit that spawned numerous spin-offs including a Celebrity series alongside the main summer show.
In 2011 it switched from Channel 4 to Channel 5 who decided not to renew the series last autumn.
But Rylan – who won Celebrity Big Brother and hosted its Bit On The Side spin-off – is hoping for a revival.
He tweeted: “Today is @bigbrotheruk 19th birthday. Let’s hope for it’s 20th he’s back and bigger than ever. Happy Birthday #BBUK”
In an interview with the Radio Times, he went on to suggest that Netflix or Amazon Prime Video could provide a new home.
“People like watching TV when they want to watch TV, and you could certainly do Big Brother like that,” Rylan said. “Every day new episode could drop with the 24 hour highlights of the day before, then every Friday at 9pm you could log into your account and watch the eviction live.
“The technology is there with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.”
Although there’s been talk of the show moving to a new channel once more, or even a streaming service like Netflix, nothing has been confirmed at the moment.
Rylan said last year: “It’s a massive part of my life and I know it can be even better with the right TLC.
“I’d do everything in my power to make sure CBB and the civilian BB are still on the air.”
He vowed: “I will fight to the death to make sure it never goes away. If I had the money and owned the channel, I would buy the programme and film it in my garden.”
Announcing the end of Big Brother in 2018, Channel 5 said: “We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.
“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.
“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years. We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”
Without Big Brother off screen, Rylan has since landed a new hosting job presenting Strictly Come Dancing’s spin-off It Takes Two alongside Zoe Ball.
