Even Better Than The Real Thing saw the globe’s best tribute acts pitted against one another in a one-off TV special.

The 60-minute special celebrated the biggest names in pop music – but none of them were actually making an appearance themselves.

Over 4 million tuned in to watch the world’s top tribute artists for a glamorous night of performing and competing.

Contestants included Little Fix, based on the popular X Factor winners and made up of Megan Walker, Heather McDonald, Stephanie Barclay and Amy Craik.

They performed Wings in the first round of the competition but fans of the real group weren’t impressed.

The tributes were branded ‘Lidl Mix’ and one viewer quipped: “Looooooooooooooool what is this? Poundland version?? ”

Another critiqued: “Where is the harmony? They’re not even singing in the right key and no attitude in their voices at all and they obviously skipped Perrie’s verse because that would have been an embarrassment”

And a third remarked: “‘Even better than the real thing’ who tf came up with that title”

However those in the studio audience seemed to like the performance, and put the group through to the next round.

There they performed Black Magic with Madonna Melissa Totten, however it was Whitney Houston tribute Belinda Davids who won the show, as voted for by the live crowd.

Other acts on the show include Ariana Grande tribute artist Leticia Campos, Amy Winehouse Tribute Tania Alboni and George Michael tribute artist Rob Lamberti.
